Students will prepare a Bach piece to be critiqued by judges. Competition will take place online, in the fall, during December, 2023

The competition is for violinists ages 5-18, in 4 categories:

Beginning
Intermediate A
Intermediate B
Advanced

Fees and Deadline

The application deadline is November 19th, 2023.
Video Submission Deadline is December 9, 2023 (Send YouTube Video Link to imastrings@gmail.com)
Applicants must pay the non-refundable fee of $35 FOR SOLOISTS

Bach Double Concerto

For the Bach Double Concerto, the fee is $40.

Prizes

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be announced January 15th, 2024. Every participant will receive a participation certificate.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will also receive engraved medals.

The names of the competition winners and their teachers will be announced on our IMA website. Letters of congratulations will be sent to the winners and their teachers. The decisions by the judges are final. Ties among contestants are allowed.

Contestants, parents, and teachers are prohibited from personal contact with the judges at any time.
The judges’ names will be announced one month prior to the competition.

Piano accompaniment is not mandatory but recommended. If you need a referral for a pianist, please let us know.

All solo pieces in each category must be performed by memory with all repeats.

Duets and the Bach Double Concerto do not need to be memorized.

Any publisher for advanced level music is allowed. Remember to send a .pdf (jpegs are not allowed) copy of your music in the attachment (this is for advanced level students only).

Beginning and intermediate level students do not need to submit their selections.

When submitting video link please include the name of the participant(s).

Video Recording

1. Make sure your video is shot in a horizontal/landscape position (holding your phone sideways). Entire body should be in the picture.

2. Your video must be uploaded to YouTube. Do not publish as a private video. You can publish as “unlisted” or “public”.

3. Please copy your YouTube channel link and email to imastrings@gmail.com
